(I'm an insomniac :)) There was a quake, 8.0 on the Richter scale..but shallow, near Tonga. It has since been called off. *Phew*Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8160021.post-1146322861122701702006-04-29T10:01:00.000-05:002006-04-29T10:01:00.000-05:00The street cars acrually are running. I don't know what the schedule is, but every evening on my drive home from school (Delgado Community college in Ciy Park), I see them on Canal.

As far as I know, it's just Canal Street and also along the Riverfront area, but not on St. Charles street at all. (Though it is the st.charles streetcars themselves that are running along Canal street; ya know the ones, those antique looking green ones.)

I always find it weird to see those streetcars running a line they never ran before.angie.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12907146590809162984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8160021.post-1146264207723228532006-04-28T17:43:00.000-05:002006-04-28T17:43:00.000-05:00You can get your MRE's at your friendly neighborho...You can get your MRE's at your friendly neighborhood army surplus store... assuming they haven't all been FEMAtized.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05946998063732242140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8160021.post-1146252436706685512006-04-28T14:27:00.000-05:002006-04-28T14:27:00.000-05:00I hate hurricane season. I wasn't that thrilled living in Florida to begin with, but three hurricanes back to back and the resultant loss of jobs/items/important stuff like windows in the apartment, alone with living in a black mold infested ghetto...sent me just packing and running. I almost moved back to New Orleans. Just in time for Katrina. !!! However, I love New Orleans, and wouldn't have just run away. I understand to an extent how frustrating it can all be, and I know from experience! And my area wasn't anywhere near as bad as yours!

I had originally planned to come down this weekend or next weekend but couldn't make it. The airlines were gouging hell out of airline tickets as well for these two weekends. Maybe that accounts for the lack of tourists (aside from it maybe being too early to have too many people visiting anyway).

Thanks for the update on the city, I had no idea the street cars still weren't running. I'm glad you got to see some healthy signs of life though. New Orleans wouldn't roll over and die, we all know that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
