And to round out the week...

Great... so much for my plans of world domination :(

You're so evil, it's cute.
Aww, you think you're evil? That's adorable. We could just pinch your not-so-evil cheeks and pat your friendly little head. You seem like someone who feels massively guilty if you have even the slightest negative thought. If you were really evil, you'd lie, cheat, and hatch diabolical plans without feeling the slightest hint of remorse. It looks like your conscience is leading you down the "good" path, which is great... unless you're planning to take over the world someday.

Remember...Dave asked for more memes...

You know, I joke about this all the time... why, just the other day, I told Short Stuff that if he dumped me into the north atlantic for a few hours, he'd have a "Pop-cicle".

You might've been a passenger on the Titanic.
You have an inner strength and calmness that could have developed during a traumatic past life experience. You seem very protective of the people you love, and you'd do anything to keep them safe from harm. Maybe you were a child's nanny on the Titanic, and your only thought after the ship hit that iceberg was to get the baby onto a lifeboat. If you stay focused in the face of danger, it could be because you developed that ability a hundred years ago on the open sea.

No fair! I wanted to be part of the "couple making out in the woods" that gets hacked apart!

You know, I always thought the fat guy is the first one killed by the axe murderer in a horror movie... this Quiz seems to differ.

When Action Figures Turn Violent
"You devoted your life to acquiring all the dolls, toys and memorabilia you could get your hands on, but ironically, one of your precious collectibles chose to take that life away. Maybe the creepy lady down the block had a garage sale and you accidentally bought a puppet possessed by a murderer. Maybe your new toy robot was programmed to destroy humanity. Or maybe that dirty old clown doll you found on the street really was evil. In a frightening collectible rebellion, the malicious toy tried to sell you on eBay, but then it found out you were more valuable in parts. Not pretty. "

Still, that is so me.

The Book Meme...

Lauren Tagged me for The Book Meme, and I never get tagged for anything anymore... so here we go:

Total number of books I’ve owned:

In my lifetime? Thousands, and that's not counting the comic books... Right now, my personal collection of books, cookbooks and comics numbers at about 600 or so (all of which I have read)... and when you consider that I threw/donated/sold/gave half of them away before I moved in with Silverfox in November, and I'm not counting the books owned by Silverfox and the kids... That's a lot of books, kids. I have a respectable personal library going on.

Last book I bought:
Anasani Boys by Neil Gaiman. Still haven't read it because I need to read American Gods first. No, wait... I had Silverfox buy me the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook.

Last book I read:

Comic book/Graphic novel: The greatest Superman Stories ever told for the fifth time or so.

Children's book: I read Harold and the Purple Crayon to Short stuff last week.

Regular book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire- I'm slowly getting through the series.

Book I’m reading right now:

I am embarrassed to say that there is no book on my nightstand at the moment.

Five books that mean something to me:

Harold's ABC's- The first book I can remember reading by myself.

Raise the Titanic by Clive Cussler- My Dad gave me his paperback copy of this book so I would have something to read for a book report when I was ten. I loved it. It's responsible for my fascination with the sea and lost treasures. Mr Cussler- if you're ever in New Orleans, I would like to buy you a beer.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams- taught me that Sci-Fi could be funny without being a parody of itself.

Kingdom Come by Alex Ross and Mark Waid- The first Graphic novel that I ever said "wow" out loud after reading it. It plays on the religious elements in the Superhero genre, and does it really well.

Batman: the Dark Night Returns by Frank Miller- Redefined the character of Batman for my generation. In my mind, he suddenly went from a campy do-gooder to a twisted psycho. This Graphic novel is the reason I wanted to become a writer... so I could tell stories that would effect people like this one did me.

Five books I think everyone should read at least once: (I added this one to the meme, as it seemed a little short on content)

The Bible- everyone should at least once. Belief in God aside, it is the basis for the bulk of western literature.

Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke- In my opinion, the best science fiction novel ever... and I don't say that easily.

The Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons- A benchmark in the idea of Graphic Novel as true literature. An incredible story. Try to read it before the movie comes out and ruins it's reputation.

The Princess Bride (the good parts version) by William Goldman- Forget the movie... the book is sooooo much cooler. And you, in turn, will seem soooooo much geekier...

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes- About a Forrest Gump type that undergoes an experimental procedure to increase his intelligence. It will change the way you look at the mentally challenged in our society.

Five people that should answer these questions:

Silverfox, Stacey, Dave, Ducky, and Melinda

The last Meme of the year...

Culled from RPP’s Blog, just before Melinda tagged me for it anyway…

The 2007 meme- What you do is take the first sentence of the first post of each month for the whole year… doing so will cause you to see some great revalation and enlighten your way into being one with the bloggosphere or something. I don’t know. It still sounded cool, though… so here goes:

January- Apparently, we have a bit of a situation here in southeast louisiana... the entire half of the state is slowly sliding into the gulf of Mexico like a very lazy avalanche.

February- Culled from the Back Porch: The Thursday Thresome is a weekly meme of three silly but related questions... enjoy!

March- WARNING: This blog entry may not be suitable for children. Parental discretion is advised.

April- As many of you know, it is one of my lifelong goals to pull off a sensational hoax.

May- Over on Trading Up, I am off to a rousing start in my quest for a boat, and I couldn't be happier.

June- A trucker who has been out on the road for two weeks stops at a brothel outside Atlanta.

July-This clip is enough to make me buy this product immediately, and a box for everyone I know.

August- I’ve got a fever that only a Play-Doh Cowbell can cure.

September- Stumpy and his wife Martha went to the state fair every year.

October- I hate being sick.

November- For those of you that don't know, November is National Blog Posting Month.

December- I did it!!!!

My Great revelation: I joke around a lot.

Wait, that’s no revelation. I feel gypped. :(

This post brought to you by the letter "B"...

I got the letter “B” from Cheri… Here's how it works…. You ask me for a letter in the comments, I give you one, then you post that letter in your journal along with ten words of significance to you that start with that letter, and why they're significant. What a fun game! You know you want to play! :)

1) Batman: The Dark Knight Returns”- the classic Frank Miller Batman story that made the teenage Rob realize that comics were for grown ups, too. Proof that every time I have tried to get out of a hobby, I always manage to get sucked right back in.

2) Bob- The one nickname derived from Robert that I REFUSE to answer to. I’m sorry, but I’m just not a quadrapelegic in the middle of the ocean.

3) Buick- my current ride. I adore my Maybelline… She’s got the personality of a Camaro, and the luxury of a Cadillac.

4) Brazil nuts- one of my few life-threatening allergies.

5) Big man”- the one “nickname” a complete stranger can call me that will give me an immediate dislike of them. It’s not that I don’t think I am a big man… I just think it’s kinda rude for a stranger to label you as such.

6) Brannagan, (Zap)- my favorite Futurama character… “I suffer from a very sensual learning disability… I call it sexlexia.”

7) Blogging- my addiction, your entertainment.

8) Build me up, Buttercup”- the ringtone I recently assigned to my new special someone.

9) Becca- one of my oldest and dearest friends.

10) Brooklyn Tech- my high school alma mater.

Bonus number 11) Boy... that was harder than I thought!
Bonus number 12) Bonus- lucky you, you get two of em!

It's another Meme Monday....

Culled from Manic Monday:

What do you remember about your first day of school?

Well, let’s see… 33 years or so ago, I was 4 years old, and entering Pre-K. (jeeze… there are countries in eastern Europe that didn’t last for 33 years.) I’m continually amazed that my photographic memory actually works back that far, but what I remember most was standing in line in a big blue hallway behind a cute little brunette girl while my Mom argued with some blonde haired lady about something I simply had no interest in. I remember the little girl turning around and smiling at me, and I remember her eyes were a deep shade of brown.

Have you ever attended a high school or college reunion? What was it like?

I tend to avoid reunions because the people I would want to talk to at them I’ve kept in touch with anyway. Plus that, when your high school graduating class consists of internet moguls and Nobel Prize nominees, you feel like a bit of a loser with a sales job that barely pays the rent.

Do you keep in regular contact with anyone from high school and/or college?

Yes, I do. I talk to or see almost all my close friends from college at least once a month, and have a friend from high school I call about once every two months. It’s a little strange, but I actually re-connected with a lot of folks from my high school/teenage years after Hurricane Katrina. (Most contacted me because they were worried I may have drowned or something.)

From Curious as a Cat:

If you had to explain the concept of religion to someone from another planet, how would you do it?

In science, we are taught to ask “why?” until everything is explained… drilling down into the core of the origin of everything. When you get to the point in your questions where science no longer can provide the answers, religion and faith take over.

Which one of your senses do you use the most? The least?

I use my vision the most I suppose I look at everything from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. For the least, it’s probably (sadly) my sense of touch.

What event from your teen years would you like to relive just as it happened?

My fondest memories of my teen years are of hanging out after school in lower Manhattan with my best friend, Alex. It seemed back then like every day was another adventure waiting to happen, but mostly we would hang out in Battery Park watching the pretty wall street secretary types change out of their high heels after work and into their sneakers. We’d also eat a lot of Zeppoles and then throw the remaining powdered sugar at each other or even better at other kids that happened to piss us off, while watching the ships pass by on the harbor. Any one of those afternoons would fit the bill.

Meme Monday, but on a tuesday

Tagged by Stacey, whose kid will be making appearences in the next few Dogs of Atlantis comics provided I can circumvent some (if not all) of the child labor laws.

People who get tagged need to write a blog entry of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly! In the end, you need to choose 3 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment on their blog that says they have been tagged and tell them to read your blog. Unless of course, that seems way too much like work.

Six weird things about yours truly:

1) That I find it really hard to come up with six weird things about myself. I mean, I am acknowledged in most quarters as a fairly weird person, but to me these things all seem normal. Does that seem weird?

2) I have an inner monologue that narrates my existence. For instance, after my alarm went off this morning it went something like this: “I woke up this morning, a little shocked that I couldn’t force the alarm clock to explode through sheer force of will. Seeing as how the day had no intention of letting me sleep till noon, I got up and dragged the bulk of my body to the shower.” Or when over the weekend, I ran into a pretty girl who recognized me at a sci-fi convention: “I half-heartedly glanced around the room, not really caring what the presenter had to say about his topic, when I saw a smile that could light up a room. She grinned at me coyly, saying hello with just her eyes. I imagined for a moment what it would be like to run away with her to a distant tropical island before I noticed that she was pushing a stroller full of kids wearing pointed ears.”

3) I chuckle after almost everything I say (usually because I think it’s funny… which it almost never is)

4) Despite being recognized as an open, life-of-the-party type, I consider myself to be the biggest introvert I know, (particularly in situations that I should be entirely comfortable with) to the point where I exclude myself from many parties and gatherings by finding a good place to hide. Okay, maybe that isn’t so much weird as a quirk of my personality, but it sure makes me feel weird.

5) I have a tendency when watching a movie to accurately predict plot elements before they happen. This drives Dizzy nuts. For example, in the Transporter , there is a scene where the Driver is given a large duffel bag to deliver.

Me: There’s a person in that bag.

Dizzy: What?

Me: There’s a person in that bag. Probably a hot chick.

Three minutes later, he opens the bag, and there’s indeed an attractive woman inside.

Dizzy: Damn you.

Later, there is a scene where the Driver’s employer hands him a non-descript briefcase and asks him to deliver it.

Me: There’s a bomb in that briefcase. He’s trying to kill the driver.

Dizzy: How could you possibly know that?

Me: I dunno. Just do.

Five minutes later: BOOM!

Dizzy: Will you stop doing that? And wipe that smirk of your face!

6) I talk in my sleep… to the point where I have had full, intelligent conversations with the others while sleeping. It disturbs me a little that the ex-wife used to exploit this particular backdoor to my subconscious to find out how I ‘really’ felt about certain things. After she came clean and admitted to doing this, she promised me she never would do it again, but I’ve always wondered just what else I may have said to her over the years.

Now, by the power invested in me by the blogger that tagged me for this, I hereby tag:

Dave
Melinda
Dreamwalker

A Twofer Tuesday....

In this case, the last Two Movies I watched:

Idiocracy- I put this on the ol' Netflix queue at Melinda's suggestion, and am so glad I did. I LOVED this movie! For those not familiar with the premise... A regular guy (played by Luke "I am not Owen" Wilson) gets frozen for 500 years as part of an army experiment. The world he wakes up to is one that reflects a disturbing trend in our society: the stupid folks are out-breeding the smart folks. The result after 500 years of this is a world in ruin. Think of an entire distopian big-brother society being run by Beavis and Butthead, and you begin to get the idea. Filled with great sight gags, and the dry yet crude humor of Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill), this movie was frakin awsome. Go rent it and tell me what y'all think.

Legally Blonde 2-Red, White, and Blonde- I was looking forward to this movie way more than I should have been, I think. I know it totally blows the whole macho image thing, but I realy enjoyed the first movie, and thought I would give the second one a try. I am so sorry I did... while Reese Witherspoon was great in the first movie as the girly, idealistic Elle Woods, in this one, her character was so over the top as to be embarrassing. Take my word for this and give it a pass, otherwise you'll just encourage them to make another.

It's a Meme Monday....

Culled From Manic Monday:

Have you ever danced under the stars? One of the most romantic moments I have ever had was slow dancing in a field in city park with the Ex-wife to the music playing out of the speakers of the caddy.

Have you ever listened in on a private conversation?I am ashamed to admit that I do this all the time, particularly in restaurants. I do it to add color to dialogue in my writing. It still amazes me how intimate people will get in conversation in a public place, relying only on the “none of my business” barrier to keep people from listening.

Have you ever splurged on something you normally wouldn't purchase? What was it?Not really… I don’t believe in denying my baser instincts when it comes to purchases. If I want something badly enough to buy it, I just go ahead and do so without the “but I shouldn’t” guilt. It’s my freakin money, after all… I’ll spend it as I see fit. It was interesting when I would see the Ex struggle about whether or not to buy shoes, or a purse, when I would have just bought the silly things ten minutes ago and moved on.

Culled from Curious as a Cat:

If you could witness one supernatural event--whether you believe in the supernatural or not--what would it be? Why? This is tough, as I’ve already seen ghosts, ESP, and precognition in action... Hmmm… I guess would want to see definitive proof of the existence of an afterlife. One of my biggest fears is ny own existence ceasing.

What is your earliest memory? Why do you think you have remembered that particular event or thing? A picnic when I was around 3. I’m not sure why I remember it… maybe because I still remember my Mom being so happy to do it… but I recall vividly the red cups and plastic red-and white checkerboard plates Mom broke out for the occasion.

Pick a friend or acquaintance with whom you think you would like to start a new business venture. What business? Why that person? Okay… to be fair, there are a few of my friends that I would start a business with given the opportunity. The top two however, are tied. I think it would be just as much fun to start a comic book/media production company with Dave as it would be to start a Pizza place with Drew. Would that I could combine the two somehow… "Big Kahunah Comics: Free slice with every issue!"

Music Meme

Dave tagged me for this, and seeing as how I owe him big for scoring me that ticket for Saturday…

Itunes Meme:

Here's what you do: Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. NO CHEATING.

How does the world see you? “American Pie”- Don McLean
Uh… so I’m long and full of metaphors?

Will I have a happy life? “Captain Jack”-Billy Joel
One of the most depressing songs ever. All about feeling alienated and alone. Not a good sign.

What do my friends really think of me? “Born in the USA”- Bruce Sprinsteen
All about a loner that gets screwed up in Vietnam… but I tend to think of it as a “working man’s hero” song. I can live with that.

Do people secretly lust after me? A Ska version of “Time after Time”.
Awsome.

How can I make myself happy? “Rock-a-Hula”- Elvis Presley.
Lotsa hot chicks doing the hula, apparently.

What should I do with my life? “The Night they Drove Old Dixie down”- Joan Baez.
Uh, Drive?

Will I ever have children? “Viva las Vegas”- Elvis again…
‘There's a thousand pretty women waitin' out there… And they're all livin' devil may care.. And I'm just the devil with love to spare.’ Hmm… guess not.

What is some good advice for me? “Wheel in the sky”- Journey
And it keeps on turning : )

How will I be remembered? “Faithful to me”-Jennifer Knapp.
I can live with that.

What is my signature dancing song? “Cuban Pete”- Desi Arnez.
Equally awesome. BOOM-chicki-boom, boom-CHICKI-boom, boom-chicki-BOOM.

What do I think is my current theme song? “Everyday People”-Sly and the Family Stone. Getting far more accurate here.

What does everyone think my current theme song is? “You Sexy Thing”- Hot Chocolate
Awwww, yeah.

What song will play at my funeral? “The Promised land”- Bruce Springsteen
Not what I would have picked, but I can live with it. Or die with it, as the case may be.

What type of women do you like? “Hot Patootie (Whatever happened to Saturday night)”- Meatloaf, from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
All about Nailing hot, easy rock and roll chicks. It’s like they know me.

What is my day going to be like? “Like a prayer”-Madonna.
Uh-oh. Better wear clean unerwear today.

I TAG—lessee… Melinda, Ducky, Dreamwalker, and my Brother.

It' all about Meme Monday...

Culled from Stacey's blog, who apparently got it from myspace. What you do is answer the following in the comments section of my blog, then post it on your own so that I may have my revenge. Have fun, but please try not to give me a heart attack, okay? (y'all know exactly what I mean!)

1. Who are you?
2. Are we friends?
3. When and how did we meet?
4. Do you have a crush on me?
5. Would you kiss me?
6. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
7. Describe me in one word.
8. What was your first impression?
9. Do you still think that way about me now?
10. What reminds you of me?
11. If you could give me anything what would it be?
12. How well do you know me?
13. When's the last time you saw me?
14. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
15. Are you going to put this on your blog and see what I say about you?

It's a Meme Monday....

Culled this from Javafoofoo's blog... She didn't tag anyone in particular, but This one sounded fun and chock full of opportunity for wise-ass responses. Anyone who wants to pick up on it can.

The 55 things Meme... learn 55 things about your friends, and let them learn 55 things about you.

55 things about the Webkahunah...

1)How old do you wish you were?
367- a century for every year would be nice. Party at my place Feb 5, 2337!

2) Where were you when 9/11 happened?
on the sofa, about to check my e-mail.

3) What do you do when vending machines steal your money?
call the number on the machine and give em a piece of my mind. Thank god we live in an age where anyone can be annoying to another human being anywhere with the touch of a button.

4) Do you consider yourself kind?
depends on what we’re talking about. If it’s about a plaid shirt being worn with striped pants, I will not be kind about it. If we’re talking helping a friend fix a flat tire or paint a nursery, I suppose I am.

5) If you had to get a tattoo, where would it be?
a superman symbol on my left bicep.

6) If you could be fluent in any other language, what would it be?
knowing italian would stop those generations of Cerios from spinning in their graves.

7) Do you know your neighbors?
All by sight, about half by name… Keylee and Jack are my favorite ones though:) Best neighbors ever!

8) What do you consider a vacation?
a few hours on the open road, preferably with good company.

No. The stars have as much effect on my life about as I have on theirs, which is to say none at all.

In that I would get up off the sofa and get them a soda from the kitchen, yes.

11) Are you touchy feely?
Sometimes. Depends on the touchee.

12) Do you believe that opposites attract?
Yes. It is a proven law of physics that a negitively charged particle will attract a positively charged one. Unfortunately, the collision of said particles tends to lead to mutual anniahlation. And spelling errors.

13) Dream job?
Voice over talent for a hit cartoon series

14) Favorite channel(s)?
Sci-Fi and Discovery

15) Favorite place to go on weekends?

I can be. Particularly in traffic.

27) If today was your last day on earth, how would you feel?
Depends on why. If it was the end of the world, pissed. If I was dying to save others, pretty good about it. If I was gonna just drop from some unforseen illness, kinda annoyed.

28) How do you feel about interracial couples?
I don’t think that Klingons should be allowed to mate with Vulcans, but other than that I’m pretty okay with it.

Not once, not twice, but thrice.

33) What did the last text on your cellphone say?
”have I ever told you you’re a sex god?” HA! I wish. It really says “Ok, I’m not going to argue the best superhero, cause that would be futile. But box office? Supes wins hands down. But that does not make it a better movie!” Batman fans are way to easy to mess with.

It's a meme Tuesday...

You Are 21 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Your Pimp Name Is...

Dr. Mystery

Here i thought it would be "Sweetdaddy Kahunah"

Your Life Path Number is 6

Your purpose in life is to help others

You are very compassionate, and you offer comfort to those around you.
It pains you to see other people hurting, and you do all in your power to help them.
You take on responsibility, and don't mind personal sacrifice. You are the ultimate giver.

In love, you offer warmth and protection to your partner, even when she turns out to be psycho.

You often give too much of yourself, and you rarely put your own needs first.
Emotions tend to rule your decisions too much, especially when it comes to love.
And while taking care of people is great, make sure to give them room to grow on their own.

uhhh.... a little eerie... but okay.

You Are 50% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too damn weird to do anything about it but whine about it on your blog!

Ummmmm... a little too close to the mark.

Your Haloween Costume Should Be

A Flying Monkey

Okay... big brother must be watching me.
